On October 10, 2020, the Ministry of Science and Technology published a list of national key research and development projects.

"Stem cell and Translational research" key projects: 15 projects

The pilot project for stem cell and transformation research is based on the Outline of the National Program for Medium - and Long-term Scientific and Technological Development

(2006-2020) and the Plan of The State Council on Deepening the Reform of the Management of Science and Technology Programs (Special Projects, Funds, etc.) Financed by the Central Government. The special projects of national key research and development Plan, which were first established, are assigned tasks in eight aspects according to the innovation chain. In 2020, we plan to give priority to 9 research directions. Under the same guideline direction, only one item can be supported in principle, and two items can be supported at the same time only when the evaluation results of the declared projects are similar and the technical routes are obviously different. A dynamic adjustment mechanism can be established, and the best items can be selected for further support according to the interim evaluation results.

A total of 240 million yuan has been allocated by the state (including 6 projects for young scientists to be supported with a total funding of no more than 36 million yuan). The project execution period is typically 5 years.

From the actual project status, a total of 15 projects into the public list, a total of 11 projects led by universities. Shanghai Jiao Tong University led 4 projects (including affiliated hospitals), Tongji University led 2 projects, and University of Science and Technology of China, Fudan University, Shanghai University, Southern Medical University and Third Military Medical University of the People's Liberation Army led 1 project each.
